Phoenix Rush Soccer club offers a specialized "Keeper Training" program which focuses on the skills necessary for young goalkeepers to excel within the sport of soccer. Under the guidance of Goalkeeping Director, Chris Sagar, each session will focus on the technical, tactical, physical, and mental skills required to play the position. Sessions will also be tailored to meet the different needs of specific age groups.
To provide our goalkeepers the best training environment possible, the following guidelines have been established:
Each Competitive team must send its goalkeeper(s) to goalkeeper training.
A goalkeeper cannot develop to the best of his/her ability if the keeper only attends one session every three weeks. If a second goalkeeper is needed or a team has two goalkeepers on the roster that goalkeeper may attend as well.
Each goalkeeper will be dressed appropriately for goalkeeper training.
That includes proper goalkeeper pants (if it is necessary), a long sleeved shirt, soccer boots, shin-guards, goalkeeper gloves and a properly inflated soccer ball.
Each goalkeeper will train with the appropriate age group and skill level.
There will be no exceptions unless authorized by the Goalkeeping Director.
All goalkeepers are expected to attend goalkeeper training.
If there is a conflict with other team sessions, goalkeeper training takes priority.
Attendance will be kept at every training session; staff to goalkeeper ratio will be 1:6 or better.
